Seinfeld was born in Brooklyn (April 29, 1954), New York City. His dad, Kálmán Seinfeld (1918– 1985) was of Hungarian Jewish descent, and he collected jokes that he heard while serving in World War II. His mother, Betty (1915–2014), was of Syrian Jewish descent. His second-cousin is musician and actor Evan Seinfeld. Seinfeld’s childhood was in Massapequa, New York, and went to Massapequa High School on Long Island. At 16 years old, he invested time volunteering in Kibbutz Sa’ar in Israel.

He went to the State University of New York at Oswego, exchanging after his second year to Queens College, the City University of New York, graduating with a degree in communications and theater.

Career

Seinfeld developed the interest in stand-up comedy after brief stints in school productions. After he graduated in 1976, he tried out an open-mic night at New York City’s Catch a Rising Star.

On September 5, 1987, his very first one-hour special Stand-Up Confidential broadcast live on HBO.

Seinfeld and Larry David made The Seinfeld Chronicles in 1988 for NBC. The show was later renamed Seinfeld to avoid any confusion with the teen sitcom called The Marshall Chronicles.

The book Seinlanguage which was written by Seinfeld was released in 1993.

After he finished his sitcom, Seinfeld came back to New York City to make a comeback with his stand-up comedy. He recorded his comedy special, titled I’m Telling You for the Last Time” in 1998.

He wrote the youngsters’ book Halloween in 2002. The book was outlined by James Bennett.

On February 24, 2008, at the 80th Academy Awards, Seinfeld showed up as the voice of his Bee Movie animation character Barry.

In 2012 Seinfeld began a Web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in which he would pick up a fellow comedian in a different vehicle every scene and take them out for espresso and discussion.

Seinfeld signed a comedy deal with Netflix in January 2017.

A long time before Seinfeld was made, Seinfeld dated Carol Leifer, a fellow comedian and one of the motivations for the Seinfeld character of Elaine.

When he was in his late 30s, Seinfeld had a four-year relationship with secondary school student Shoshanna Lonstein who was only 17 years of age when they started dating.

The Seinfelds have one daughter and two sons. Their daughter Sascha was born 2000; their first son Julian Kal was born 2003; and their second son Shepherd Kellen born 2005—all in New York City.

Seinfeld has made a few political commitments, including George W. Bramble’s and Al Gore’s presidential battles in 2000, and along these lines to four Democratic Party essential candidates in 2000 and 2004.

Seinfeld said that he had been practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM) for a long time since December 2012.
