Jay-Z Net Worth: Shawn Corey Carter or commonly known as JAY-Z is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer also entrepreneur. Jay-Z is one of the most successful rappers worldwide with the highest numbers of records selling music artist. Carter started his professional music career in the 1990s while he released his first record at 1996 which was a success in all aspects. Year after, the first album JAY-Z launched his record label Roc-A-Fella Records. Under his label, he releases several albums, and all were the massive success. Some of those albums are The Blueprint and The Black Album.

Early Life

Carter or JAY-Z was born on December 4, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York City to  Adnis Reeves and Gloria Carter. At a very early stage, his father abandoned the family, so his mother raised Shawn and his three siblings. Reeves before dying in 2003, reconciles his relation with JAY-Z. Carter attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn along with another rapper AZ until it’s closed. In a lyrics, JAY-Z claimed he shot his brother in the shoulder because he stole his jewelry. Jay-z later attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School with other rappers like The Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes. Carter even attended Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey but he never graduated. Jay-z later admitted in a lyrics; he sold crack cocaines at his high school days.

Career Days

Jay-z was unable to work with any record label, so he started selling CDs and DVDs out of the car along with Damon Dash and Kareem Biggs under the name  Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995. Jay-z later signed with Priority and released his debut album Reasonable Doubt with beats given by DJ Premier and Super DJ Clark Kent also an appearance by The Notorious B.I.G. Although it was a debut album, it climbed up to rank 23 in Billboard 200 and later included in “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” by Rolling Stone by the position 248 also achieved Platinum status.

In 1997, JAY-Z signed a new contract with Def Jam and released In My Lifetime, Vol.1. It performed better than the previous one even, achieved platinum status.

In 1998 Jay-Z released “Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life” which became one of the major hit of his life. Late same year,  he released “Can I Get A…” which again became a hit. Till this time, 5 of his albums have achieved the platinum record. Jay-Z was also about to win Grammy, but he boycotted to protest the failure of DMX to stand the nomination.

These days, Jay-Z is one of the best rappers ever holding the record for highest selling as a solo artist. He even got four times position 1 in Billboard hot 100.

Achievements

Till now, JAY-Z has received over 21 Grammy awards. He holds the record for the most number-one albums on Billboard 200 at 14 and four times at Billboard Hot 100. Billboard even declared him as the most prominent artist in 2000s, and Rolling stone recognized him as one of the 100 greatest artists of all times. Jay-Z became the first rapper to be honored in  Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. Jay even received the “Salute to Industry Icons Award” at the 60th Grammy Anniversary.

JAY-Z married Beyonce, and they rated as the most powerful couples in the list of most influential people of 2006 By TIMES. Beyonce Gave birth to their daughter, Blue Ivy on January 7, 2012, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Later JAY-Z released a song “Glory” dedicated to her daughter in his social website LifeandTimes.com.
