Hello! A little about me... I'm a returning college student, mom, and environmental advocate. I like to stay busy! Outside of school activites and home, I try to stay active volunteering in my community. At home, I am mom to a 15 year old with autism and 2 kitty kats. At school I am active in the Biology Club, Green Living Club, PTK and Student Government Association. My educational goal is to make it to law school. Until then I'm studying Natural Resource Management and Planning, and environmental sociology. Our campus has recently been blessed with an innovative Large River research facility, The National Great Rivers Research and Education Center. I was a participant in thier summer internship program doing social media research at our area's convention and visitor's bureau. I am also an active Illinois Riverwatch Citizen Scientist, or stream monitor. In the community you might find me volunteering to spread awareness for a sustainable environment, for the Sierra Club, Riverwatch, and my college, helping out at our local Salvation Army Food Pantry, or advocating for appropriate special education services. My latest endeavor is an effort to implement the Illinois Riverwatch Program in my son's school, which provides special education for students with social and behavioral disabilities. When I actually have downtime, I enjoy relaxing in the outdoors, nature photography, playing around with the keyboard, guitar, and african drums or satisfying my craving for Live Music! My musical tastes are a bit eclectic and include alot of Jazz, Funk, Soul, and Blues!
