I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, married and moved to Orlando, Florida in 1979. I have three amazing children and two sweet granddaughters. As children our mother showed us the beauty found in nature and the many creatures that inhabit the earth. She also instilled in us the courage to stand up for the underdog. In my 40's I realized that I had to take personal responsibility for the state of the environment and the social injustice that plagues every nation the world over including ours. I used the internet to gain knowledge about these subjects. Many things stood out particularly when I read about the shocking amount of pesticides used to grow cotton. I sadly learned more than I wanted to know about sweatshops and child labor abuses. I could go on. Armed with this information I was determined to find a way to bring as many products as I could to the marketplace that promote a better way of being in the world; where one could vote for positive change with every purchase. My sister had just moved to Florida and decided to join the cause so we have happily dedicated the last 3 years to building and launching our ecommerce website http://www.organicbug.com offering eco-friendly and fair trade merchandise for all ages all around the world. I love to travel, walk, hike, practice Yoga, bicycle, & kayak. I changed my diet to vegetarian several years ago to include a vast amount of organic raw food. Reading poetry & non-fiction, going to any and all cultural events, listening to music & watching independent film are great ways for me to unwind!
