Dr. Nikolai van Beek, founder of Kenya Biologics, has more than twenty years of experience in insect virology. From 2000-2005 he was Senior Vice President R&D at Chesapeake PERL, a company in Maryland, USA, involved in the production of recombinant proteins in insect larvae using the baculovirus expression vector system. Previous to that, he developed genetically engineered baculovirus products and led baculovirus production, processing, and formulation activities at DuPont Agricultural Products. From 1989-1991 he was involved in baculovirus research at Sandoz Agro and subsequently he served as Director of Virus Research at Crop Genetics International. Dr. van Beek received his Ph.D. in Virology in 1985 from the Agricultural University in Wageningen, the Netherlands.
