There was a time when no one talked about the menopause; it was a mystery to most women. Today, you can find more than enough information about it. Suzan (guest teacher) and Diana, as women who have experienced the menopause, feel that it is important to share their knowledge and experiences with other women on both a personal and professional level. To facilitate this they have set up a unique retreat which combines yoga and art. In this week we make the connections between emotional, physical and spiritual views, ideas and experiences. It’s a great opportunity to share and be with other women; learning, sharing and supporting each other in our life experiences. You can choose between simply dreading the menopause as a time of loss or listening to the real messages your body is sending. This can be a time of personal development, choices, empowerment, and positive energy. The days in the retreat are divided so that you work with Diana in the morning and with Suzan in the afternoon. You have 1 and a half free days and plenty of time to relax, walk and swim. The program includes a wonderful guided walk with Matthias (guest guide) and an opportunity to share his knowledge and love for nature. What can yoga do for you? The Hormone-Yoga-Therapy (developed by Dinah Rodriguez www.dinahrodrigues.com.br) is a natural method to treat symptoms associated with the menopause. We work on increasing energy levels as a means of reducing or avoiding symptoms such as -hot flushes, dry mucous membranes, low motivation, anxiety, depression, loss of hair and loss of libido. We don’t use pharmaceutical medicines but still aim to reactivate the hormone producing process. Throughout the week you will be taught how to use yoga postures, breathing techniques and energy-boosting exercises to recover or improve your wellbeing. We look at nutrition, lifestyle and stress management. Daily practise over a period of 2-4 months will guarantee positive benefits on the physical, physiological and energy levels. This retreat gives you a wonderful possibility to work with and through the theme "menopause" from different points of view. I’m Suzan and I have lived and worked in Spain for many years. I was introduced to hath yoga at the age of 20, and since then I have dreamt of sharing the beautiful benefits of yoga with other people. In 1985 I moved with my husband to Cadiz, Spain. We bought land, built a house here and have 3 wonderful daughters. Yoga has been my faithful companion throughout all these years. Happily at the age of 50 I fulfilled one of my dreams. During my training as a yoga teacher I was introduced to hormonal yoga therapy (HYT) which was developed by dinahrodrigues. I remember my own menopause that came early and suddenly. It was accompanied by emotional and physical depressions. Today I know that this need not have been the case. Hormonal Yoga Therapy offers women a natural and effective method to come through this time of changes and to gain new ideas, strengths, and earth (energy?) for action. Last but not least, HYT helps you to come through the menopause without the usual physical upheavals and annoying symptoms. The transformation in the menopause will make you younger and give you richer experiences. Look forward to the change and take welcome your change. The creative flow that you experience when you are actually making art has a positive effect on your physical wellbeing.: it helps to slow down your heart rate and your breathing and leads to a lowering of your blood pressure. It helps to increase levels of serotonin, a hormone associated with feelings of well being and which increases alpha brain wave patterns. It is also beneficial to elicit feelings, fears and fantasies. In this retreat we learn to listen to our image world. We can discover the strength and wisdom we each have available to us from within ourselves. Through the images we find and understand the language of the unconscious mind and our own deepest knowledge and wisdom. The information about our images is a source of healing and growth. Diana focuses with you on gaining inner strength, loving yourself, valuing your life and the challenges you face in making your dreams come true! We will meditate, dance, sing, paint, laugh en cry.
