Ever since spending a summer abroad in the Netherlands at the age of 16, I've been obsessed with the world. Finding opportunities to learn and experience new cultures, language and people is truly a gift. Lately, our precious world is in a downward spiral on almost all counts. But I've realized, with Karen's help (one of my best friends from college), that even in this environment, we can create change for the better by talking to each other and discovering new ideas; then encouraging each other to take that unknown step forward. Even in the midst of uncertainty and gloom, we can turn things around ourselves and focus on where we can make a positive impact. Just turn around and find that friend to spot you. From there, a whole new world can open up...
