For years, I have recycled and sent e-mails to my representatives, but beyond that I thought there wasn’t much more I could do to really make a difference. Then I heard the statistic that said, “If everyone just changed one light bulb to a CFL, it would be the equivalent of taking a million cars off the road.” It reminded me that small steps, taken together, can have a big impact. I wondered why everyone did not change their light bulbs, and I came to the conclusion that either they didn’t hear the message, or they did not have the time or know-how to act on the information. That is why I created Zola; to carry the message, and then provide you with easy, affordable solutions, so that together we can help create a healthier environment. Environmental fitness adds up

I recently read a quote that equated switching off cell phone chargers to bailing out the Titanic with a teaspoon. While I understand that the simple act of unplugging a cell phone charger is going to save a negligible amount of electricity, I tend to look at these acts on an environmental fitness scale.

For example, you can’t expect someone who has never worked out a day in his or her life to jump off the couch and run a marathon. The people who are now unplugging their cell phone chargers didn’t even know that the ship was sinking a year ago - so even in that there is progress.   Read more...

What if our enlightenment has to do with light?

Over the past year I have heard numerous contemporary spiritual teachers, such as Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, and Marianne Williamson, predict a profound shift in consciousness accompanied with an evolution to the next stage of humanity.

Where? When? How? I wanted to know. Could it be the fervor of an election year and promise of change? Could it be related to the intriguing prophecies of 2012 which predict a major transformation?   Read more...
