Twelvesprings
Prince Adesina Haastrup, is a documentary filmmaker, CEO and Head of Programmes at Twelvesprings Media Centre operating both in the UK and in Nigeria. His directorial debut was back in 1979, with “The Ghost of Time”, a haunting re?ection on Margaret Thatcher’s Britain, at a time of anxieties about the swarming of the United Kingdom by people of a different culture. He later went on to teach at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
In 1982, he left his university post to join the BBC, where he worked on numerous documentary programmes until 1992 when he was commissioned by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture to produce and direct “Africa’s Quiet Revolution”. The 45 minute documentary studied six of the institute’s programmes on sustainable and culturally relevant solutions to modern challenges faced by traditional farming in sub-Saharan Africa. His recent productions include documentaries and television series, such as “Creative Academii”, Nigeria, 2006, “Thank God it’s Sunday”, UK, 2007, “Midweek at the Surgery”, UK, 2008, “The Entrepreneur”, Nigeria, 2008, “Growing Rural Businesses with ICT”, Nigeria, 2008.
His mission is to bring hope and positive transformation to people across Africa, especially the marginalised communities in rural countryside and in city slums. We provide free medication and health information for sickle cell anaemia patients, offer training in basic business skills, motivation and self-discovery for our members, as well as job opportunities for those who are ?lmmakers and voluntary workers. As from June 2009, we will be helping our members secure micro-?nance loans without need for collaterals and at a much lower rate of interest than those obtained from commercial sources.
