Timothy Backous

Timothy Backous is a Benedictine monk from Minnesota who currently serves his community as Headmaster of their Preparatory School. Born in South Dakota, the original land of optimism, Timo now enjoys the beauty and peace of central Minnesota but keeps an eye on the world through the lens of the Ode community. He spends his days among an abundance of riches - wise monks, intelligent faculty and delightful students. Besides a preparatory school the St. John's community includes an abbey of 160 monks, a university of 1900 men, a liturgical press, an institute for ecumenical research and a manuscript library that is currently producing The Saint John's Bible, the first hand written and decorated bible in over 500 years. St. Benedict commands his monks to receive all guests as Christ - so consider yourself invited.
