Hello, my name is Sheila. I love the article you wrote on Iraqi refugees. My family came to the States in 1971 when my father lost his position as a diplomat in the Iraqi Embassy. The reason was that he was married to an American. My mother is Lebanese-American. My father was an Iraqi-Kurd. I grew up in Iraq, Iran, Libya, US, Lebanon and Yuogoslovia.
Today I am an author and professional speaker, speaking on topics that focus on the human element of business - specializing in Personal Image Branding and Strategic Networking. I wrote a book called 'The Power of Networking' that you can buy on Amazon.com.
I study Budha, Zen, The Tao and am spiritual, choosing to create my own unique spirituality that works for me. I incorporate much of my learning into my speaking topics. It is my passion to help people to achieve personal and professional success - in a way that is harmonious, peaceful and generous. I don't believe that one must be cut-throat and competitive to win and I sinceley believe that 'Nice people finish first!'.
For my personal life, I live with two beautiful Maltese dogs (5 and 7 pounds). They are my love and joy. I adore animals (especially dolphins, whales, birds, deer and dogs) nature and its glory, reading New Age books, avoiding the news (I'd rather be uninformed than misinformed). I love the water, walking in nature, yoga and meditation. Anything that brings unity, harmony, peace and goodwill and raises social consciousness I treasure.
I believe that we should use our similarities to bond with people of different nations - but it our differences that we should embrace and respect. These are the treasures that help us to grow and develop into higher Beings. Nameste
