Ronald Ligtenberg is Director of Skyway, a project that builds bridges between two communities in our society: deaf and hearing youngsters. Skyway uses new, or applies existing technology to produce interactive music events in which both communities can participate. Skyway created the ‘Sensory Laboratory’ which gives participants of music events the opportunity to experience music through vibrating floors, pictures, graphics, videos, sign dancers, taste sensations, light effects and aromas that are spread in the air.
“Skyway is not a charity: We bring together deaf and hearing youngsters who just want to enjoy a great party and by working together can really learn from each other’s culture – deaf and hearing. And by the way, the words ‘can not’ are not permitted in our organisation. Everything is possible”, says Ronald Ligtenberg enthusiastically.
Their Sencity events are music events for both deaf and hearing youngsters. With this concept they are travelling around the world as it is still a very innovative way of clubbing.
