Max Christern, professional optimist, joined Ode in February 2007 after 15 years in mainstream media. Started as a business writer for the leading Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad in the early nineties, spend five years as Southeast Asia-correspondent based in Singapore, working for NRC, radio and tv, and than became bureau chief of the Business section of the newspaper for another five years. From 2005 to 2006 he got to know the other side of the newspaperworld as a publisher with PCM in Amsterdam. In December 2006 he met with his old friend and former NRC-colleague Jurriaan Kamp in Rotterdam. This 'pioneer of the possible' convinced him that Ode was the next step in his career. They drank a glass or two and decided to join forces. Since March 2007 Max heads the Rotterdam-office of Ode, situated at the Veerhaven. It's only a ten minute ride by bike from his home. If you ask him how he's doing these days, he'll tell you straight from his heart: never better! His wife and three kids agree.
MY MESSAGES:

Welcome, Max

I am new to the ODE website but not to ODE, the ideal the magazine and message. In fact, this is my FIRST post!

I honestly do believe that people the world over want the same simple things out of life and that the power of the corporations has drowned out that fundamental spirit.

I am tired of feeling like a "walking wallet" in a world of flesh and blood, hearts and minds!

I think that your friend and 'pioneer of the possible' was right!
