Long a nutrition activist, I now focus on improving school meals in order to have smarter voters for the future who can't be manipulated by fear. The FDA has no recommended daily allowance for omega-3s, which support cognition and impulse control, and the standards for vitamin D are a tiny fraction of what they should be, even though 8 out of 10 Americans are deficient.
D is not just for bones and teeth but helps prevent or clear up ADD, asthma, cancer, depression, diabetes, heart disease, MS, schizophrenia, TB and more. See more at http: //goodschoolfood.org/vitamin_dropout.shtml
Retired from teaching, I also worked for nuclear plant safety, gentle birth and breast feeding for babies, sustainability and organic farming.
