I am the author of a book on media literacy and changing definitions of "the girl" in millennial pop culture, Maiden USA: Girl Icons Come of Age. I teach courses in Media Studies at The New School, New York and am currently doing research for a new book on positive Internet viruses. My work with youth media organizations has been funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, and I serve on the Advisory Board of GirlsWriteNow, a NYC-based organization which pairs promising teenage girl writers with women professionals in year-long mentorships. I recently served as Content Editor for a series of books on Environmental Leadership published by The Girl Scouts.
