Somewhat of a gypsy having lived in numerous places, currently in the UK for a couple of years but "home" is northern New Mexico. Have been associated with peace and environmental initiatives for a long, long time on the premise, "never give up" and the notion that one person can make a difference by influencing others along the way. My journey has included active and passive resistance to several wars, a deep involvement in the civil rights movement in the 60's in the U.S. and now badk in the trenches as a principal of a high school in London. It's a kind of sabbatical, not exactly volunteer work, but was not planned, just one of those opportunities too hard to pass up. Currently reading Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle as inspiration for what to do next. No lack of what to do, just a matter of careful choices. Driving two "green" cars, hybrids, one here in the UK and one in the U.S. and contributing where possible to those causes and concerns that make for a better, more peaceful, sustainable world. Ain't life fun! As a member of the "senior" group with years and years of experience, I take time out on occasion to reflect, renew and refresh body, mind and spirit. And to remember.......The picture is taken inside our "mobile office" that takes us wherever we want to go, thus far on the North American continent in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Professionally, have been an educator at every level for the past 40+ years including pre-school through post graduate. Have written numerous articles and co-authored one book, contemplating another for parents and teachers on how to get the most out of the institutional systems without becoming a victim of institutional arteriosclerosis.
