I study decision making from a behavioral point-of-view, particularly the irrational, illogical, impulsive, and non-optimal choices we often make. I collaborate with my wife Dr. Stephanie Stolarz-Fantino in this research at the University of California San Diego where I am a Professor of Psychology and of the Neurosciences Group. We have applied what we have learned toward coping with cancer when I received a diagnoses of incurable prostate cancer 20 years ago. In addition to psychological techniques we used kundalini yoga and a macrobiotic diet to attempt to strengthen my immune system. My experience is summarized in a recent book (November 2007) which can be viewed at the following site: http://www.behavingwell.com At the site there is the option to click on a radio interview taped in December 2007 with Stephanie and I on Psyched! in which we discuss our experience. A link to my UCSD web site is: psy.ucsd.edu/pages/people/faculty/efantino.html This site includes references to some of our publications.
