I'm sitting in front of my computer and gazing at the snowy foothills of the Rockies. The diffuse winter light matches my mood. I’ve been a writer and editor for most of my life – writing for such diverse places as art museums, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, dairy magazines, and engineering companies. I’ve always been interested in so many aspects of life that I never really found my niche. One of my greatest joys in life is traveling to new places, meeting new people and trying to understand different cultures, traditions, cuisine, and customs. I suppose that interest goes back to my anthropology days in college. Although I never utilized the degree, I always have had that inclination. For the past 20 years, I have been passionate (no, obsessed) about health and sustainable living. Research and new developments have changed my mind on many issues over the years and have humbled my experiences. Pain and suffering have changed me into a person that is more open, vulnerable, compassionate, loving and understanding. By trying to understand the pain, I realize what a wonderful teacher it has been. To me, learning every day and striving to become a better person helps keep me in touch with my humanity. My spirituality is rooted in the earth and the daily process of living. This world is such an amazing place and I celebrate it – sometimes with a fabulous meal, sometimes with a hike in the mountains, and sometimes with quiet meditation. Today, I celebrate with a cup of tea.
