What is A Course in Miracles' main teaching?

A Course in Miracles teaches us that there is a Voice of God in our minds that is always talking to us, telling us that we are:

unlilited, one with life, eternal, and literally invulnerable.

That voice is the Holy Spirit.

There is another voice in our minds that we made up that lies to us and tells us that we are:

limited, separate, mortal, and vulnerable.

That voice is ego.

A primary focus of ACIM is to teach us how to tell these two voices apart.

Once we do that we must choose to listen to the Holy Spirit's council.

We will always hear the voice of the ego while here in the dream but we should not accept it's guidance or council about anything.

Acim is not about the death of the ego, but how to properly relate to it.

We are asked to believe in the truth of the healing regardless of the appearance of "symptoms."

The 'miracle" is the mental shift in perception. It frequently has observable effects but not always.

A Course in Miracles teaches us to be patient with our spiritual process and not to judge it in any way.

We have no way of knowing how far along we are on the path.

What does it mean that ACIM is a metaphysical teachings?

"Metaphysical" is an ancient word dating back to Aristotle and the fourth century before Christ (BC).

When Aristotle wrote his treatises he would state a certain point and then after that he wrote what he called the "ta' meta' ta' pysica'." that means "the work after the physics" and these were the ideas that underlied the premises which he just stated.

In our modern times, "metaphysics" has come to mean the causative forces that lie underneath the physical reality that we experience.

In psychic nutshell, the word "metaphysics" means anything beyond our physical senses and things that are not seen or non-physical.

A Course in Mericles would be considered metaphysical because it deals with thoughts and mental processes that give rise to the manifestation of physical world.

Here are a couple examples of direct metaphysical thoughts in ACIM

"I see no neutral thoughts -- What i see witnesses to what I think. If i did not think I would not exist, because life is thought.

Let me look on the world I see as the representation of my own state of mind. know that my state of mind can change.

And so I also know the world I see can change as well."

(WK. Or.Ed. 54.3)

P/S It should be noted that the word "metaphysics" never appears in ACIM.

Also, because of "metaphysics" association with things like astrology and Tarot cards, some students do not want to call ACIM metaphysical.

What's the difference between the Original Edition and the FIP/FACIM ACIM?

The Original Edition is the edition that was produced by Bill Thetford and Helen Schucman after they went through the original typing that Bill had produced from Helen's reading of her notes.

Some time later, Kenneth Wapnick was given a copy of this first edition. After Ken wapnick read it, he convinced Bill and Helen that more editing was necessary.

It was done soley by Helen and Kenneth Wapnick of FACIM

After this second editing, a commercially available version of ACIM was produced and began being sold 19 1976 by the Foundation for Inner Paece (FIP).

In 1999 the FIP transfered ownership of the ACIM copyright to the Foundation for ACIM (FACIM) Kenneth Wapnick's organization.

Many students like the more consistently defined and better edited FIP/FACIM version. Many students like the more open, more psychological, and not so strictly defined edition.

The choice of which version any student should study remains between the student and the Holy Spirit.

Is A Course in Miracles a Christian teachings?

The answer here is both "yes" and "no".

It depends upon how you define "Christian"

and vary from one A Course in Miracles student to another.

Here are supporting ideas to the "Yes, it is Christian" argument:

1. It talks frequently about certain teachings that are found in Bible.

2. It encourages us tp pray and teaches us how to do it.

3. It teaches us how to communicate with the Holy spirit.

4. It focuses a lot on the idea of forgiveness.

Here are supporting ideas to the "No, it is NOT Christian" argument.

1. It is not Bible based and it does NOT encourages Bible study.

2. It teaches us that Jesus was NOT sent here by God to atone for our sins through his crucifixion.

3. It has strong focus on ACIM book study and practicing Workbook.

4. It sees the world as an illusion and teaches a guaranteed happiness, independent of world conditions.

Isn't ACIM very similar to Unity, Christian Science or Religious Science?

A Course in Miracles does share many ideas with Unity, Christian Science and Religious Science, but it is also significantly different from these disciplines as well.

These three disciplines are frequently referred to as New Thought religions.

ACIM is different from unity in several significant ways. Unity encourages a study of the Bible, but interpreted through the New thought lenses of Unity's basic teachings.

A person who is a student of ACIM would, be someone who was studying the ACIM book and practicing ACIM Workbook lessons.

Unity does not have this strong focus on book study.

Christen Science differs significantly from ACIM in how it deals with healing. In christen Science members are strongly encouraged not to go to medical doctors when ill.

ACIM has no such belief against doctors. Going to doctors is not "wrong" for ACIM students. Going to doctors would be an experience in the physical world and, as such, inherently neutral.

Religious Science is based on spiritual metaphysical healing. Of these three New Thought Religions, Religious Science is the youngest.

While sharing a lot in common, philosophically, with Christen Science, Religious Science does not view going to doctors wrong.

The major difference between Religious Science and ACIM is again, as with Unity,how Religious Science views the world. Prosperity, personalship satisfaction, and good physical body health become a strong focus of Relgious Science practices.

This is different ACIM which sees the world as an illusion and teaches us that our happiness is guaranteed, independent of world conditions.

A Home of God - And - A Voice of God.

A personal comment.

A new student's thoughts about A Course in Miracles and about his journey with it.

Let's have a heart-to-heart talk. I'll talk and you listen. OKey!

If you could visualize the mind as I often do, you'll no doubt discover as I have that the human mind has two distinct levels.

Level One is called the Personal-Self or the Personal-Mind. i call it the 'Ego'. A Course in Miracles refers to it as the 'Spilit-mind' because it splits the mind into two halves.

Level Two is called the Higher-Self or the Universal-Mind. I call it the 'Soul'. A course in Miracles refers to it as the "Holy-Spirit'.

Between both, the 'Split-Mind' and the 'Holy-spirit' minds there is a 'gap'. It is called the 'gap' of no-mind or more commonly reffered to as the mind witthout any thoughts.

Metaphysically speaking, the 'gap' between the two levels of the mind is a space where God-Essence dwells. Just think of it!

In the East, it is known as the 'Home-of-God', I call it a 'Voice-of-God'. This is the place where you 'know' God's thoughts,

Dr. Helen schucman talks about "The Voice of God" that conveyed A Course in Miracles to her.

This is what she says about "The Voice".

"... I call it a voice, but "A Voice has sounds ... or sounds as though it has something to do with hearing". And, I did didn't hear anything ... I think "Knew" may be a better word than hearing. (FACIM, The Voice)

I can truly relate to Dr. Helen Schucman's message because as God is my witness, for 30+ years I have heard God's Voice in the manner she has described.

In fact every words in these articles came directrly from the Voice of God that told me what to write.

Hearing God's Voice is simple process once you know how.

There are only three very simple steps to follow in this process.

Step One: You must recognize that the "Holy-Spirit" exists within you. You can it a "Soul' or anything else but the Course refers to as the "Holy-Spirt" and I accept it as a truth.

Step Two: You must 'ask' the "Holy-Spirit" to unite the two levels of the minds (Split-mind and Holy-Spirit) in a union of perfect harmony and peace within you in orde to become One with God bybein aware of the Split-Mind's oerception of separation from god.

The first two steps require your cooperation.

The final one does not. (If you do follow).

The process has already begun by taking the first two steps.

Soon you'll see that it is so -- so it is.

I guarantee it!

ATTENTION: God's Teachers. HOW I EXPERIENCED ONENESS WITH GOD

I became a student of A Course in Miracles in 2009. My first sense was that on some level of my mind, I had already read it.

It was very familiar to me, but without knowing what it was going to say. I felt that A Course in Miracles was related to my purpose in this world, and I should do something more than just study it.

I didn't know exactly how that would unfold, so I forged ahead with study and allowed the "Holy-Spirit" part of my mind to reveal itself to me.

Suddenly, I began to 'experience' Oneness with God. It was a feeling of joy and happiness and inner peace that I had never known before.

"Holy-Spirit" began to speak to me through flashes of thoughts, inspirations, and guidance that came into my mind. I didn't hear anything in the usuall sense, but it was a felt oneness with something or of knowing someone within me. It dictated what I was to do next.

As I read the text section of the Course, I felt it isn't just theory for me because I'm actually 'experiencing' everything it says on a level within myself that I have never experienced before in my life.

I do accept every this xperience of Oneness with God reveals to me. Revelations has taught me that only God is real. Nothing else in the world is. I've experienced Oneness with God.

It is my own choice whether I experience separathion or Oneness with God and I chose to experience Oneness (not separation) with God.

" A THEORETICAL FOUNDATION SUCH AS THE TEXT PROVIDES IS NECESSARY AS A FRAMEWORK TO MAKE THE EXERCISES IN THE WORKBOOK MEANINGFUL. ( ACIM, Workbook for Students, Page 1).

My first assignment from the "Holy-Spirit", came as an inspiration for doing the exercises in the 'Workbook For Students' in order to make the goal of the Course possible.

This section of the Course offers 365 ideas to train my own mind to think along the lines the text sets forth. An untrained mind can accomplish nothing.

These exercises train the mind to reverse thinking from mind's perception of separation from God to Oneness with God.

Having done the exercises in the "Workbook For Students", I observed that while doing these exrecises, I was lifted to a higher sense of mental stimulation.

In essence, I had invited the "Holy-Spirit" to come into my awareness, I could feel Oneness with God. My Personal-Mind disappeared, when I began to listen to my "Holy-Spirit" and ask for help.

Manual For Teachers is the third section of the Course. It gave me the understanding of the role of teaching and learning. It inspired me to become one of God's teachers.

"Holy-Spirit" summened me to start a group of "Like-Minded" people in order to unite humanity in a new cultural transformation movement in order to initiate a ne 'awakening' of the planet.

The name of Ode magazine came into my mind. It is a magazine of Intelligent optimists and is appropriate for this movement. A TRUE CONFESSION OF A DEVOTED STUDENT OF ACIM

I believe that the most significant thing that can happen to a human being, has already happened to me because I've decided to practice one lession a day for 365 days as outlined the Workbook for students section of the curriculum of A Course In Miracles.

Speaking for myself, this one decision has done two things for me.

First, it has inspired me to become one of God's teachers.

Second, it has given me the answer to a question that both a teacher and pupil may raise which is, "WHAT IS THE PERFECT PEACE OF GOD?"

I wanted to know, "how is the perfect peace of God recognized?" Or, "how is it found?' And, more importantly, "how I can I retain it, after it is found?"

Surprisingly, my answer came in Lesson #6 of the WORKBOOK FOR STUDENTS Page 10.

The main idea in Lesson #6 is that "I am Upset because I see something that is not there.

Nothing will ruin my own peace of mind faster than being upset. Furthercane, peace of mind is essential to experience the miracle, which is an awareness of God's love within.

There are no small upsets. They are all equally distrubing to my peace of mind. I habitually apply this idea specifically to whatever I believe is the cause of my upset.

First, I find the form of my upset (Fear, Hate, jealousy, Anger, Worry and so on). Then, I try to find out the "Source" of my upset (Spouse, children, circumstances and so on).

Once, I find the form (say anger) and the source (say spouse) then the next step is to affirm to myself, "I AM ANGERY AT MY WIFE BECAUSE I SEE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT THERE.

Any negative thought or emotion is caused by missunderstandings. So I affirm to my self that I AM UPSET BECAUSE I SEE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT THERE.

I have found that affirmations are means for the "Holy Spirit" to correct or undo any wrong thinking of the mind..

God's peace can never exists where "anger" is, for anger must deny that peace exists. (Manual For teachers, ACIN, Page 51).

I can retain the peace of God by deliverately avoiding the emotion of "anger" in whatever form. The key word is 'deliberately' avoiding the negative thoughts and emotions.

"Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God."

(ACIM, Preface, Page X).

A PRIMARY PURPOSE IN LIFE!

A COURSE IN MIRACLES

As a devoted puple of God's teachers, I believe that as human being, our collective primary purpose in life is to help initiate a major phase of correction process, the reversal of the thinking of the world.

Speaking for myself, the aspect of the correction process, began with the idea #11, in the Workbook For Students, which states that 'thoughts' of which you are aware, are meaningless, outside rather than within, and stressed their past rather than their present status.

We are emphasizing that presence of these "thoughts" means that you are not thinking. In other way of saying this is that THE MIND IS REALLY BLANK. (Workbook For students, ACIM, Page 16).

Once I trained my own mind to recognize whenever my mind is not thinking at all and is totally 'blank', I could literally feel or sence my 'Split-Mind' become one with the 'Holy-Spirit', and - I becomr one with God. There is no separation there.

This is the period when I can truly experience Oneness with God's love, Joy, happiness and peace. I start to affirm that "I'm one with God". Amazingly, what I've noticed is that my affirmations are the Holy Spirit's means for correcting my own thoughts.

I feel a sudden peace in my mind and body and a sense of relief within me. I call it a miracle. Its the awareness of God's Love within. Its the separation of the thinking of the 'Split-Mind' and the God's Love. I know for sure that my mind is not thinking about anything.

In the East, its called a mind without any thoughts or a "No-Mind", which is merely another way of of repeating my earlier statement, that my mind is really blank.

The trouble is that while meaningless thoughts and thoughtless ideas preoccupied the mind, the "TRUTH" is blocked.

So, what's the point. You may ask. My answer.

Recognition of a blank mind is the very first step to opening up a sort of passage way to vision.

MANUAL FOR TEACHERS

A COURSE IN MIRACLES - God's Teachers

I've found that there seems to be two things common with the teachings of all of God's teachers.

First, God's teachers share one verson of the overall universal plan for humanity and our role in it according to their own personal experience of Oness with God.

It may differ in form but like all forms, it leads to God in the end.

This unique verson of a God's teachers seems to be his or her primary purpose in life. They share this purpose with others because it is the purpose of humanity.

A miracle is nothing more nor less than an awareness of Oneness with God. When Mind is one with the 'Holy-Spirit', YOU become one with God. Those who experience this Oneness with God, become teachers.

Second common thing with all God's teachers is that the curriculum they teach, often seem to be based on his or her real-life exquiste memoirs. I know this was true in my own case as a God's teacher.

It appears as if they were under the 'Holy Spirit's" guidance and training for sharing their own verson.(Mine took more than 30 years).

No matter what the verson a God's teacher uses, it conveys. "That you are One with God, is the whole lesson of the plan of Atonement."

I've spent 30+ years in training my own mind to become one with the Holy Spirit.

This union of the my own Mind and the Holy Spirit has enabled me a felt oneness with God and to become one of God's teachers.

The curriculum I share with others is based on my own real-life 30+ years exquisite memoir.

It reveal facts about the miracle of the human mind upon the thoughts that we deliberately monitor on a daily basis. I've literally lived this curriculum for 30+ years and it can do the same for you too.

A COURSE IN MIRACLES - What's that?

I believe that A Course In Miracles represents one of the versions of God's universal plan for humanity.

It fully explains all the details of the God's universal plan in a plain language that even a seven years old child can understand.

I say this, because English is my second language, and I've been able to understand it in the spirit it is given to us,

You don't need any mentors or gurus and couches to help you understand anything. It is truly a self-study program.

Perhaps, the biggest benefir of reading A Course In Miracles is that it endeavors explain our own role in the God's universal plan in the capacity of becoming one of God's teachers on the planet eath.

It gives your and mine, the primer purpose in life. And you and I share it with others because it is also the main purpose of humanity.

That's how important A Course In Miracles is in the game of life.

The reason is that the course is the key to the reversal of the thinking of the world. It will change the thinking 'habits' of the masses just as McDonald's changed the eating habits of the masses worldwide.

The curriculum of God's universal plan, as outlined in A Course In Miracles in three all-in-one edition consists of Text 670 Pages, Workbook for Students, 488 Pages and Manual For Teachers, 72 Pages. Nothing is left to chance. Everything you need is given.

The order in which you choose to use curriculm, and the way in which you study them, is left entirely depend on your own particular needs and preferrences.

Speaking for myself, I choose to study the Workbook For Students first, because my needs were to experience God's love and to be able to put my own mind under the Holy Spirit's guidance and experience ONENESS with my own God. (I've experienced this universal Oneness).

And I am so small and useless, there is nothing I can do."

But God in all his wisdom said,

"YOU JUST BUILD A BETTER YOU."

I believe this powerful statement gives the whole essence of A Course In Miracles. the teacher giving something to himself first.

Herein lies, the secret of becoming a God's Teacher.

The curriculum you set up is therefore determined exclusively by what you think you are, and what you believe the relationship of others is to you.

Expept for God's teachers there would be little hope for salvaton, for the world of sin would seem forever real.

"The purpose of A Course In miracles might be said to provide you with a means of choosing what you want to teach on the basis of what you want to learn." (Manual for Teachers. ACIM P 1).

When I first became interested in becoming one of a God's Teachers, my mind was literally flooded wirh questions like,:

Who are God's Teachers? Who are their pupils? What are the levels of teaching? What are the characteristics of God's teachers? How should the Teachers of God spend his or her day?

Surprisingly, the answers were given in the part three of A Course In Miracles csectionalled MANUAL FOR TEACHERS Pages 1 - 72.

If you should choose to become a God's Teacher, I highly recommend that you study the WORKBOOK FOR STUDENTS, first.

The reason is that it contains 365 ideas. Anyone can insipre you to become a God's Teacher. That's how I became one.
