Happiness is an inside state. Most of us spend our lives looking for happiness outside of ourselves, although this may work for a while, it will never last. As we pay attention to those things in our lives that make us feel happy, we realize that it is based on how we feel inside when we are with a loved one, enjoying music, or playing with a child. When we experience this we can take a moment and sense into the sensation we call happiness, rather than focus on the outside stimulus. Each time we do this we become more aware of the place within all of us from which happiness is generated. In time we can breathe into that place for 2 or 3 minutes and feel happiness arise from within. This is the secret to having happiness as a state of being, rather than as a result of only outside stimulus.
