Stephen Zunes concludes in his afterword, "As the United States continues to make war against peoples and nations of the greater Middle East, it is incumbent upon nonviolent activists in the United States to familiarize ourselves further with this impressive and ongoing history of nonviolent resistance by Middle Eastern peoples."
