Ethiopian surgeon works for better health care |
|
Ingida Asfaw came to the United States from Ethiopia on a cargo ship when he was sixteen. The two-week-journey was worth the wait. Today, Asfaw is a world-renowned surgeon based in Detroit. However, he always believed he would return to his homeland to improve the lives of his fellow Ethiopians. In 1999 he created an international coalition of doctors called the Ethiopian North American Health Professionals Association (ENAHPA) in order to address Ethiopia's medical crisis. Each year, he leads a team of physicians back to Ethiopia for medical missions to provide free health care. More info: http://www.enahpa.org |
