Homeopathy in India is growing fast

I always thought Europe would be by far the biggest market for homeopathy, but it seems that India is catching up pretty fast. A new study revealed that the Indian homeopathy market is expected to top $2.8 million by 2010 and outpace the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in the country.

Across the world the homeopathy market has expanded and is now worth close to $14.5 million, growing at the rate of 25 percent. France is leading the market, the study says.

India is homeopathy! There it is considered a front line medicine, as it is affordable as well as effective. There are homeopathic hospitals, clinics and research centres all over the place, and many people travel to India to be able to gain experience of practising there in a way which some in 'the West' would find hard to imagine! Given India's spiritual history - its understanding of the energy that everything is in essence - and its marriage with whole health disciplines such as yoga and Ayurveda, it's not hard to see why homeopathy is widely respected and used. And now that quantum theory appears to be offering plausible explanations for its action, perhaps it will gradually move towards a state of understanding, and even better practice by ever more people in ever more places, especially where availability of modern drug medicines is limited, and whose 'side effects' are becoming increasingly common.
