Newsweek.com says "Go pick up an issue of Ode."
Newsweek's Daniel Stone encourages you and President Obama to have a laugh with Ode's special laughter issue in the magazine's political blog The Gaggle.
Sarah Hussein Obama, President Obama's grandmother and the woman laughing on Ode's August cover was chosen for the special laughter issue for her joyous, beaming smile, inspiring us all to laugh freely, especially in the face of difficult times.
Newsweek.com says, "It caught our attention to see another Obama making a debut on a magazine cover. And this time, a bit refreshingly, for an apolitical reason."
"Eric Siry, our creative director, wasn’t looking for an African smile when he found the photo of the woman who now beams from the cover of Ode.", Ode's Editor-in-chief Jurriaan Kamp says in his Letter From the Editor in the laughter issue. "He decided to search the photo agencies' immense databases in the "news" category. Last year, Sarah Hussein Obama, the Kenyan woman on the cover, made the news laughing with good reason: Her grandson had just been elected President of the United States."
"The rest of the issue carries the same theme: why people laugh, how you can laugh more and inside the lucrative business of making people laugh.", said Newsweek's Daniel Stone. "All of which got us thinking: the problem-solver-in-chief could probably use a laugh these days."
"Mr. President, (...) go pick up an issue of Ode. You have our blessing." --Newsweek.com
In the spirit of laughter and intelligent optimism lets find joy in the good news. Sarah Obama did, and we should too.
