Farm forward looks to the future of agriculture
Farm Forward is a nonprofit group advocating Americans to transform the way our nation eats and farms. They oppose the method of "factory farming" which began in the 1920's and is now prevalent in the meat, dairy, and egg industries. New farming technology has not been used positively and instead is promoting factory farming and destroying rural life.
Their website boasts their many accomplishments saying, "From years of innovative efforts to improve conditions on farms and in slaughterhouses worldwide, we have built a unique network of strong relationships with animal welfare experts, food retailers, nonprofit animal advocacy organizations, religious leaders, scholars, small farmers, and writers concerned about farmed animal welfare. This unprecedented network and our tight focus on rolling back factory farming allows us to enhance the effectiveness of existing organizations and implement comprehensive new strategies that are unavailable to other groups."
Current Farm Forward projects include working with best selling novelist Jonathan Safran to expose the factory farming industry, creating the first post-factory farm Chicken supply, helping to create a new future for poultry by providing pro-bono support to positive business models, promoting conscientious consumption of farm products through social media marketing, advancing scholarship and undergraduate teaching that promotes critical reflection on farmed animals, improving slaughter in South Africa, and encouraging best auditing practices for improved animal welfare.
