Chain-ging the world
Changing the world is like playing Dominos. Once one thing gets in place, starts to work, there's an all encompassing effect that takes over. That's the premise of Chain Reaction, a two-day event taking place in London, UK, with the purpose of bringing together social leaders, community activists, policy makers, business leaders, and young people from around the globe to share learning and to generate new ideas for social change in a big way.
Running from November 17-18, this chain reaction isn't something you want to miss. With debates, workshops and speeches galore, Chain Reaction promises the necessary social change that each participant brings to the session. The first day promises speeches from David Robinson, co-founder of Community Links & Vice Chair of the Prime Minister's Council on Social Action and Jeremy Gilley, Founder of Peace One Day, along with workshops with IBM CEO's and UK Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The second session offers a dialogue on arts and social change with Cris Gonzales, Philippine Educational Theater Association, among others, along with a panel session on financial change with the likes of Rachel Lomax, former Deputy Governor, Bank of England and former Vice President, World Bank (chair) and many other higher-ups in UK governance.
The thing all of these leaders have in common is their realization that change doesn't happen on its own, and can't happen in the hands of one person. No, real social change has to be a successful game of Dominos, with ideas touching one another so much that you fall over to see the success in it.
