Art of Reverence

We live in a society that is fast-paced, consumer-oriented, and often impersonal. For this reason, so many people now crave personalization and celebration in life. We all remember any event that touches our emotions, that feeds us in a powerful way. Think about a wedding you attended where the vows were written by the bride and groom, the music was selected by them, the details of the celebration and ritual were carefully chosen to reflect the personalities and spirits of both the couple and their families and friends.

The same is essential for end of life rituals. This is often a last chance to declare love and reverence for someone who has passed. The expression of this love and reverence is unique, because every person is unique. So many people tell me that when they experience the death of a loved one, the choices for memorializing that person are meager. Art is the only form of expression that can express any and all feelings of human emotion. That's why, in my mind, it's the difference between marking a place for someone who is no longer living versus honoring, loving, and celebrating the spirit that made that person unique. See www.shineonbrightly.com for beautiful objects to celebrate and memorialize life.
