Maggie's organics new outlet

In April, 2004 Marco Visscher of Ode magazine wrote about Maggie's Organics, "How dozens of women in Nicaragua built their own factory for stitching T-shirts and socks of organic cotton." Maggie’s has continued its commitment to socially responsible business practices, selling organic fibers for 16 years. We have long been featured at natural products’ stores nationwide, most notably Whole Foods. All our products are long-lasting, durable, and comfortable.

At Maggie's Organics our mission is to produce and provide comfortable, durable, affordable and beautiful articles of apparel and accessories made from materials that restore, sustain and enhance the resources, including human, from which they are made. After learning about the harsh facts of conventional cotton cultivation and garment manufacturing back in 1992, Maggie’s began to make socks, and then added T-shirts, tights, lounge pants, and other garments out of certified Organic fibers. Not only does Maggie’s strive to convert as many acres of land as possible from conventional to organic farming methods, but we are also passionate about creating an alternative to the poor working conditions and pay in the apparel industry. We were instrumental in the creation of The Fair Trade Zone, a 100% worker-owned Sewing Co-Operative in Nueva Vida, Nicaragua and the first worker-owned cooperative in the world to gain Free Trade Zone status.

We've also got some new products in the works, such as organic cotton scarves (see photo) and sock dolls. Our sock dolls are made from only irregular socks, an innovative way to turn what would otherwise not be sold to a cute gift!
