Worlds first biofuel airplane takes flight

A Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet flew yesterday from London to Amsterdam with one of its fuel tanks filled with a bio-jet blend including babassu oil and coconut oil.

Together with partners Boeing, GE Aviation and Imperium Renewables, Virgin Atlantic is helping to pioneer renewable fuel sources for aviation.

Some environmentalists say that this is just a 'stunt' on Virgin's part to divert peoples attention to the fact that they are expanding, but at least it's a step in the right direction, environmentally speaking.
