Can bicycles help save the earth?

Specialized Bicycles partnered with Google and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to host the Innovate or Die Pedal-Powered Machine Contest for a pedal-powered solution to offset climate change. The winner, announced last week, designed a water filtering and transporting bike called the Aquaduct that addresses the needs of 1.1 million people in the world who don't have access to clean drinking water. Other inventions that were spawned from this contest were a pedal-powered laptop, corn grinder and mobile cinema.
