Contest: Write an address you hope President Obama would deliver

David Korten | March 2009 issue

Before Brack Obama was elected to the U.S. Presidency, contributing writer David C. Korten drafted an economic address he wishes Obama will deliver during his administration.

Korten's speech focused on hope for:

  • food an energy independence
  • rebuilding local food systems and focusing more on family farms
  • support for local entrepreneurs
  • rebuilding infrastructure around a model of walkable and bike-friendly communities
  • a willingness to create ownership of our society and local communities

Ode would like to invite you to write your own address for Obama to deliver during the course of his presidency.

Instructions: Please post your address of no more than 800 words below in the comments section for all to read by March 31, 2009. Your address does not have to be limited to only one issue or subject (like the economy). It could focus on a variety of issues that are important to you, our country and the world. The winning entry will be rewarded with a copy of David Korten's new book Agenda for a New Economy.

We look forward to reading all of your ideas!

An Address I Hope President Obama Will Deliver

Today, orders are being sent to all military commanders effective with this speech:

“Resist not violence, if struck on one cheek turn the other.” (Matthew 5:39)

There is an eternal law of the universe known as Dharma. Both JESUS and Mohammed gave it to their followers, but neither the Christians nor Muslims follow the law.

The Buddhist and other religions of India teach the eternal law.

All humanity live under the law; we do not have an option

Genesis and Exodus, of the Bible, demonstrate penalties of the law through practical living experiences.

Under Dharma a city or other society accumulates unrepentant sin. There comes a time when the city/society collapses under the burden. Sodom and Gomorrah are examples from the Old Testament.

Under Dharma sin punishment can be passed to associates and or descendents. The Jews were bound to become slaves in Egypt because Joseph was sold as a slave by his brothers. Sin punishment, in this case, is passed to descendents.

Moses came to free the Jews from slavery. The Pharaoh threatened to kill Moses. The threat backfired; the first born Egyptians are the ones to die. Associates suffer because of their leader’s sin.

The Attorney General is being directed to investigate charges against those who led America into the Iraq & Afghanistan wars.

Jewish Jerusalem perished in 70 CE and Hebrew still suffer because they exceeded the limits of Dharma. JESUS issued a prophecy a few days before HE was crucified. The prophecy included: the walls will be torn down and you and your children within you will be crushed. The Holocaust would be included in this eternal prophecy.

The proverbial straw that caused Jerusalem’s downfall was: The Jewish Zealots resisted the Roman Empire, which controlled the area at the time.

The Eternal Law of the Universe

Matthew 16:19, JESUS is speaking to Saint Peter. “And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; whatever doors you lock on Earth shall be locked Heaven, and whatever doors you open on Earth shall be open in Heaven!” For Muslims, Koran, Sura 45:14. Mohammed wrote: “He who doth that which is right, doth it to his own behoof, and whoso doth evil, doth it to his own hurt. Hereafter, to your LORD shall ye be brought back.”

These two verses are identical in meaning. The Jews express great truths in metaphors; in this case when the metaphor was interpreted by the early Christians at Rome the original meaning was lost.

JESUS died to defend the law and through HIS death HE has given us the power to succeed. Saint Paul exceeded the limits of Dharma by returning to the temple in Jerusalem. He looked back, the same sin as Lot’s wife when she looked back, in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Paul, on returning to the temple, was arrested and held prisoner until his death.

Paul’s writings are full of errors. The Shepherd of Hermas, used as Scripture by some early churches closes many of the loopholes Paul created. A passage from Hermas:

“But I am warning you, if, after this great and holy call, anyone is tempted by the devil and sins, he has one opportunity for repentance. But if he sins repeatedly and repents, it is of no use for such a person, for he will scarcely live.”

The positive side of Dharma is summarized in one verse.

“If as GOD’S representative you give even a cup of cold water to a child you shall receive a reward.” (Matthew 10:42)

A few other requirements to become HIS representative are required. Keep the Sabbath, don’t kill, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, respect your parents. This is not an all inclusive list.

War is killing and by our troops turning the other cheek we are acknowledging war is killing. When a person divorces his/her spouse and marries another he/she is committing adultery. From the beginning the 7th day has been the Sabbath. When we keep HIS instructions we become HIS representative and return to the Garden of Eden, Heaven on Earth. And, the economy will be taken care of.

The first cup of cold water will be health care for all citizens of Earth provided by the American government with the cooperation of other governments. A portion of this is reparation for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The second cup of cold water will be health care for all Americans paid for by the Federal Government.

Our military retirees receive this type of health care, which binds us to provide it for all.

My next speech will cover the humanity of JESUS, which will be as soon as the dust settles from this one.

A speech I wish Obama would have given Fellow citizens, Thank you for being here today, supporting me and supporting America. Today, the world is on the threshold of a new era, the era of globalization, a time in which we do not see sole countries, but we see a single planet that becomes with our unity a small village. However, today while writing our history we find humanities’ hands stained by blood; many wars are going on in this world leading to the death of many people, some countries are seeking extreme illegal power and are not stopped and a terrorist attack now takes place very often that their occurrence is on its way to becoming more heart-breaking than surprising news. Long ago, when this world has seen the consequences of disputes and conflicts after World War two, the world leaders at the time said “No this can not happen again”; they agreed on forming the United Nations. But today we must ask ourselves whether peace is really kept in this world or it is not, and whether people are secure or they are in fear every day that their lives all of its own became hell. The answer is not a secret and can be discovered by no more than opening a news program on a local television. Although we are now far past January, I am sure that the American minds, the ones that accept no injustice, did not forget the devastating images of the sufferings of people in Gaza last January. I am sure that they did not forget Iran’s nuclear project and . The terrorist attacks on 9/11, and their deadly consequences are also ones that would lie in our minds forever. But what did the UN do about all that? The UN as always pronounced decisions that were harshly neglected. Neither did Hamas nor Israel cease fire when they were asked to, the economic punishments on Iran did not stop its nuclear project and the moves to save the world from terrorism were so subtle that attacks went on and nobody could stop them. Today, dear friends, the world proves to us once again that there is no obedience without power, and so there is no peace without a strong United Nations. Therefore we have included a portion of the budget that we are tending to use to fund the United Nations Organization. We will help it by money; help it form a new and strong army on the condition that it is reformed from the inside to give rise to a non-biased body that is truly able keep solve conflicts in the world not only by reasoning but by use of power sometimes. The new decisions and punishments will change form being week economic punishments to strong military punishments, and power will be used when it should be used. Americans, today once again we are on the threshold of re-writing history. We are changing the world once again to become a better place for all of us. This is not possible without an organization that is strong enough to act as a judge in case of conflicts, and a punishing father to those who ever think that they are alone in this world. And if I am asked whether we can do it, I will say yes we can.

I bring good news, reciting Lesson 132 from "A Course in Miracles," "I loose

the world from all I thought it was." Ponder this a moment ... "I loose the world

from all I thought it was." Following up on this I quote Deepak Chopra who

says "Letting go of your habitual certainties is the first sign of enlightenment."

With a measure of enlightenment, loosening my mind from what I thought

before, I bring a theme for my administration that will bear upon every decision

at every level of government, a new understanding, a shift in thought, and a

way of life. Fellow presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens,

ambassadors to and from all nations, citizens of the world I offer you two

simple, profound words, given us by Neale Donald Walsch from "A Conversation

With God"--there's enough!

There's enough! Something we all can believe. Something we must know.

Now some may be skeptical ... Shaking your heads ... Some doubters out

there ... Questioning. What did he say? Did he say what I think he said? I

know, I know ... I was a little uncertain myself at first.

To the uncertain, in fact to all I refer to "Unlimited Wealth: The Theory And

Practice Of Economic Alchemy", by Paul Zane Pilzer. I'd like to share a story

Professor Pilzer tells about his early days in business, working for his father.

He was upset with his father for giving another raise to a young worker who

forgot to call in upon the birth of his fourth child, his absence costing the firm

$75.00.

"Listen to me! Please! We're going broke. And you're giving raises to

people we should be firing," Pilzer exclaimed.

"No son ... You don't understand. It's not worth being in business if you

can't extend a hand to people who haven't had all your advantages. Go to

Wharton. Study hard. Figure out how you can make your million bucks and

how we can stay in business to make jobs for the Tonys of this world. Then

you'll understand."

Pilzer says his father "viewed his own business shortcomings and society's

economic problems as one and the same: both were the result of our failure

to understand and utilize the tools God gave us."

But through alchemy, by properly using our tools, our minds, and creating

value where little to none exists, we will understand. We will understand how to

grow the pie, instead of cutting up the pie, competing with each other to attain

ever bigger shares, as has become the habit of forceful nations, forceful

corporations, and forceful individuals. This was the old, outdated scarcity

paradigm, one where we've seen the rich get richer, and have nots having less.

We will no longer live this lie.

Now in 1937, after being sponsored by Andrew Carnegie, and serving

Presidents Wilson and Roosevelt, Napoleon Hill wrote "Think & Grow Rich". In

it he stated that "The truth is we live in a world of overabundance of every

material item we can imagine." Now folks we've come a long way since 1937,

but traditional economics has yet to catch up. Professor Pilzer states, "At

Wharton, it seemed to me that the science of economics had advanced only to

where the science of medicine was at the beginning of the nineteenth century."

That's a hundred and seventy five years folks ... A hundred and ninety years

from the time Professor Pilzer wrote this book in 1990. No wonder they call it

the dismal science ... That's a lot of catching up to do for all you economists

out there.

Professor Pilzer says they didn't even understand prosperity. He writes,

"Since World War II, the wealth of the Western world has been expanding at

an unprecedented pace, confounding the expectations of conventional

economic theories." Now there's the key word, conventional. We've all heard

plenty of heard of failed, so-called conventional thought and wisdom. Pilzer

goes on, saying "Unable to explain this activity, economists have taken to

qualifying their predictions and presriptions with phrases such as 'On the other

hand, ...' leading "Harry Truman to remark that what the United States

needed was a good one-handed economist."

Now few understand our current economic challenges. But understand they

must and will. The new realities of a new economic order demand a new

understanding of growing and distributing the pie, not just throughout the

Western world, but throughout the entire world.

In closing, to all gathered here ... In this hall and beyond its walls ... I

leave you with Lesson 131 from "A Course in Miracles," "No one can fail who

seeks to reach the truth." I assure you we cannot and will not fail to reach and

find the truth, for the truth is--there's enough!

When I spoke to the Nation on February 24 I stated that we need to change from thinking short term to long term. We will not adequately solve our problems or achieve our full potential as a nation or leave our children with a planet in better condition unless we think long term. As I stated then, we must think beyond the next election or quarterly profit statement.

There is another fundamental change that needs to be made. We need to focus on desired outcomes and shared values. I believe that Americans can achieve consensus on outcomes and values whether we consider our selves conservative, moderate or liberal; whether we are a Republican, Democrat, or Independent.

To be clear let me explain what I mean by outcomes and values. Outcomes are the ends or goals - what we want our nation to be - the improvements we seek and problems we need to resolve. Values are the virtues or standards which govern our actions.

Important outcomes needed for a high quality of life, a sustainable environment and a healthy economy include:

• An economy that sustains low unemployment, low inflation and low interest rates.

• A reduction of carbon emissions by at least 80% over 1990 levels showing steady progress each year.

• Improved air quality so that no individual’s health is harmed by the air they breath

• To finally achieve the vision of the original clean water act in which all bodies and streams of water are swimable and fishable.

• A uniquely American healthcare system that reduces the per capita cost of delivering healthcare in half, provides access to quality healthcare for all and improves the healthiness of Americans so in all controllable measures of health Americans are at least as healthy as any other nation.

• Create an education system that enables all children to become adults who are self sufficient, responsible citizens and good stewards of the planet we share. This education system will provide a solid foundation by enabling all students to understand the written word, express themselves clearly in writing and orally, understand basic math concepts, think critically and creatively, appreciate history and learn from the mistakes and successes of their predecessors so the negatives’ of history won’t repeat themselves, learn basic sciences and in particular understand the human body so that they can make healthy choices and understand the workings of nature so that they can be better stewards, be exposed to music and art, appreciate the diversity of cultures and the geography of the planet and have the opportunity to be physically active and fit.

• Enable all high school graduates the opportunity to attend college or trade school without creating a financial burden on themselves or families.

• Restore and sustain all elements of our transportation infrastructure in a state of good repair. Expansion of the transportation network to accommodate growth in person trips and freight movement must be supportive of other outcomes and provide accessibility for all. This will include completing a national transportation system that includes a high quality urban transit, bicycle and pedestrian network in every community, an intercity passenger rail network as extensive as the interstate highway system including frequent high speed trains in the busiest corridors and connecting buses to all of the communities not on the rail network. The rail system will be expanded to handle most new capacity in intercity freight movement.

• Bring all other public infrastructure (waterlines, sewage treatment, schools, etc) to a state of good repair and then sustain at that level. Provide sufficient additional capacity to support a healthy economy and sustainable environment.

• Wean ourselves of carbon based energy by developing environmentally benign renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency.

• End poverty without creating dependency.

• Once our economy is on a solid track, balance the annual budget and begin reducing the overall debt.

• Make sure government is efficient, effective and responsive to all citizens.

• A food system that is safe and healthy.

• Clean all brownfield sites in our urban areas so that they may be put back to productive use. Eliminate the incentives for sprawl while breaking down the barriers that inhibit metropolitan areas from becoming great places where community, opportunity and creativity thrive.

• All Americans regardless of age or ability should feel secure in their home and community.

• Restore all ecosystems destroyed or damaged by human activities.

• Increase our urban forest by 3 billion shade trees

• Insure solvency of social security through the balance of the century, preserving the benefit expectations of those currently working and ensuring there is not undue financial burden on individuals or business.

• Feel secure – that every reasonable step is taken to prevent biological, chemical or nuclear weapons from being used on American soil and that disruptions to infrastructure will be prevented and that the capability exists to recover quickly minimizing injury and death if such events occur and when natural disasters occur.

These domestic outcomes are ambitious. However we can not afford not to make a serious attempt not to achieve them. When our nation was smaller and with less technology and wealth we achieved some pretty amazing things. There is no reason why with all of us working together we can’t achieve these ambitious goals.

But we must not do so at all costs. That is why values are equally important. As we search for strategies to achieve these outcomes we must not trample on basic rights. We must be fair. We must always abide by the golden rule – treating others as we would want to be treated. We must allow each individual to live their life as they see fit as long as they are not endangering or impinging on others. We must respect the constitution. We must be support and encourage creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurship. We must respect and protect individual rights but demand responsibility for ourselves and the community.

I suspect that many people will react that while they can support each of the outcomes individually they may feel that we can’t afford to achieve them or that it will require excessive taxes and huge government. Many politicians claim to stand for low taxes and limited government. These are neither outcomes nor values. The institution of government and the taxes or fees that support it are the means to achieve the outcomes essential to a high quality of life, sustainable environment and healthy economy. The fact is liberals hate high taxes as much as conservatives. No individual will pay more than they have to and will do everything legal and ethical to minimize the payment of taxes. The same holds true for government. It should only do what it needs to do and nothing more.

What I have articulated up to this point generates many more questions. How do we succeed in thinking long term instead of short term? How do we stay focused on outcomes and values when we engage in the messy debates over how to achieve them. How do we achieve all of these outcomes when some are in direct conflict with each other? How can we afford to achieve all of these outcomes when we have exorbitant debt? How can we achieve so many outcomes all at once?

I admit I don't have all of the answers. Changing how we approach issues will be difficult. It involves both the structure of organizations and the way individuals think and react. However I will propose some ideas that I believe will begin to address these questions and will lead to additional changes that will provide the elements needed to achieve all of these outcomes. The one thing to remember is that under the best of circumstances achieving any of the outcomes will take many years, in some cases decades. And making the changes needed to achieve the outcomes will also be a long term proposition.

One thing we must do is break down silos. Improving the health care includes elements of education such as educating students about their bodies and the impact decisions they make has on their health, providing physical education and healthy lunches; the way our communities are designed and the transportation choices provided to support physical activity, social interaction and good accessibility to health facilities; the safety and healthiness our food system. Reducing our carbon footprint and improving air and water quality also involves how we design transportation systems, the restoration of eco systems and the expansion of our urban forest. Within the White House I have created positions that transcend cabinet posts to address major issues such as a single person overseeing urban affairs. I urge that all organizations that will be lobbying or advocating for any of the outcomes I outlined above band together and submit their agendas to reality test – what impact will any of their proposals have on any of the outcomes. Individuals selected, not based on ideology, but on their record of achievement in understanding human behavior and the impact of actions should provide this reality check. Then develop a common ground agenda of actions that will achieve one or more of the desired outcomes without negative impacts on any other outcome. This united front, focused on outcomes rather than a fragmented approach of thousands of different organizations could be an effective means of keeping our eye on the ball – what we really need to accomplish.

Congress should function more like a board of directors providing policy direction and letting non partisan commissions develop the details. Some of these commissions can be on-going while others are short term addressing a particular issue. The key is that they are non partisan – individuals are selected based on their background and expertise only; and the make-up must represent a diversity of perspectives and geographical orientation. The commission’s activities must be open and transparent. Findings are summarized on the web and all citizens can ask questions and provide feedback that must be considered.

Some examples of commissions whose recommendations would be voted up or down by congress include

• Discretionary funding commission that will examine all domestic discretionary spending to identify expenditures that are not achieving the desired outcomes (recommend for eliminating) or are doing so inefficiently or ineffectively (put on probation and eliminate if they do not meet performance metrics in designated time frames). This commission will not determine whether the outcome is good or bad – that’s Congress‘ responsibility; but it will determine if the outcomes are being achieved. It will examine 1/5 of discretionary programs every year on an on-gong basis with each expenditure examined every five years. Commissioners would be made up of business executives from successful socially responsible for profit companies and successful non profit organizations.

• Military effectiveness commission will examine all aspects of the defense operations and determine how military goals can be achieved in the most effective manner. Like the Base Closing commission its recommendations will be voted up or down by congress each year. It would look at base operations, weapons systems, procurement practices - nothing would be of limits and could make recommendations for new investment if necessary for better military effectiveness. The commission should be made up of former military leaders who are now successful business executives on businesses not dependent on the military for income.

• Corporate welfare commission would examine all subsidies, tax breaks or any other actions with a negative financial impact to the federal treasury (other than procuring goods or services) targeted to specific businesses or industries and recommend on an up or down vote eliminating all unless an extremely compelling reasons can be found.

• Health commission would comprise of 50% medical practitioners and 50% medical consumers would take time to examine the pros and cons of all major country medical systems. It would assume that each countries medical approach has positives and negatives and would address the weaknesses of the US systems without threatening its strengths. This would be a short term commission in which the members would be allowed to take leaves of absence from their jobs and earn enough so that providing this service would not cause financial hardship.

• Education commission would be another short term commission comprised of 50% teachers of the year and 50% parents of public school students defining how to best measure both teacher and school performance in achieving the desired outcomes

A third strategy involves each and every one of you. I have confidence that most people can make the right decisions if supplied with the complete information. All too often our opinions are shaped by partial and sometime misleading information. However a thoroughly fact checked website providing basic background information, framing an issue along with the pros and cons of different strategies addressing the concern can enable citizens to make informed decisions that can show support for actions needed to achieve desired outcomes.

To move this country forward we need to be open minded. All of us will need to get out of our comfort zone and seek out facts and perspectives that may challenge our long held views. We need to be informed and engaged and may need to make sacrifices for the greater good. We will need creativity and innovation. We have a lot that we need to accomplish and saying that we can’t afford to or that deficits and high taxes don’t matter are not options.

This is a challenging time but an exciting time. We have the opportunity to build a nation that will lead the world by example with an outstanding quality of life, a sustainable environment and robust healthy economy.

The address I hope President Obama will deliver:

My Fellow Americans,

You elected me to provide leadership for change and these times of crisis demand change. But how do we know what kinds of change will make things better and which will make things worse? Before we can find a solution we need to define the problem.

Our problems are many. The big one on people's minds right now is the financial crisis. But even if we could solve that problem tomorrow we would still have a long list of serious problems. We have an environmental and ecological crisis of planetary proportions. We have problems with our schools, poverty, drugs, health care, unemployment, crime, and a deteriorating infrastructure. The international challenges of conflict, violence, nuclear proliferation and terrorism continue to threaten our safety and well-being.

Last week I went back to the Oval office after having dinner with my family to catch up on some work. Instead I took some time and just sat there and contemplated the wide range of diverse and daunting crises we face. If you've been around for awhile you've probably noticed as I have that every solution we come up with these days seems to create more unintended problems. I recalled a core lesson I had learned from my mother: You can't solve a problem until you define it correctly.

As I sat there reflecting on all this I saw that the root of all these problems may lie in our very way of thinking about them.

To explain what I mean by that I'd like to share something personal with you. My ancestors in Africa were a tribal people who lived in harmony with Nature. They didn't know about modern science and technology. But they had a deep wisdom about the natural order of things that enabled them to live on the earth without harming it for hundreds of thousands of years.

On this continent the Native Americans cared for the land for thousands of years before we arrived, preserving the natural resources for each new generation.

We civilized modern people have come so far in our science and technology. Yet we've lost something vital along the way: the understanding our ancestors had that all the parts are connected and form a whole.

We're at a special moment in human history. Albert Einstein observed that a problem cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it. Whether you call it global consciousness, whole brain thinking or an integration of scientific knowledge and spiritual wisdom, we need to make a shift to a new way of thinking.

I believe that America has a spiritual destiny. This country was founded on a radical change of consciousness: the belief that a new era of freedom and equality for humanity was beginning.

Now it's our turn to demonstrate the courage to make a daring leap in consciousness similar to the one Founding Fathers made. We need a whole new way of looking at things if are going to survive the challenges of the coming century. I will be leading that change by gathering together the best minds of our time to develop creative solutions.

There are lots of bright people with innovative solutions in this country and around the world. They have not been invited to Washington until now because they were not part of the entrenched system of vested interests. But this is what I came here to change.

Our government has become dangerously unresponsive to the needs of its citizens. Corporations did not even exist in the eighteenth century when our Constitution established the legislative, judicial and executive branches of our government. Now big corporations and their lobbyists form an unofficial and unelected fourth branch that threatens to dominate and subvert the people's government.

Those days are over.

I came became your President in the middle of a financial crisis. My first priority has been to stabilize the system.

Now we're going to start to shake it up. I know this will upset the power elite, the 1% of the population who own 40% of the wealth. But this is still a democracy and I am counting on the other 99% of you to make your voices heard and support this shift to a new way of thinking.

To start with I am establishing the Creative Solutions Initiative. I am sending out a invitation to creative thinkers everywhere: come and share your insights and your knowledge. We'll also have a website where any citizen can post their ideas and opinions.

This crisis is an opportunity for us to grow into the nation we were meant to be. The story of America is not over. I need you to help me write the next chapter.

To: President Obama

Mr. President:

It is indeed a privilege and an honor to be writing this letter you; God has placed you in this office as the President of the United States of America for “such a time as this”. I believe that God has prepared and ordained you to be my President at this time in history. Many people have paved the way for you and now it is up to you to take this country to another level! There are many issues that needs to be addressed, corrected and be resolved, and I, as well as many others are praying for you and your cabinet members that God would answer our prayers and intervene and give creative solutions to the many issues that are at hand! All eyes are on you! As a matter of fact, the whole world is looking and depending on you for answers.

Let me digress a minute. When you were running for the Office of Presidency, I had many people stopping and excitedly telling me that I looked like your wife, Michelle. Of course, I graciously accepted the compliment and then proceeded to tell them that I recently resumed college to be “intelligent” like her. A month ago, my daughter and I were in Washington, D.C. and a lady excitedly approached her and also told her that she looked like Michelle as a teenager in Chicago. My daughter then proceeded to tell me that others have been telling her that also. Well, back to the issues at hand.

Mr. President, America needs to have the best of teachers to take our children into the next generation. We need creative and dedicated teachers who will help our children harness their creative energy and skills and implement them in positive ways. We need teachers who are willing and dedicated to go the extra mile to help one student, to encourage dreaming big and don’t give up! Our jails and prisons are full with too many of our intelligent youth who used their creativity to the detriment of themselves and others. It is time to take back our youth from the juvenile system and penitentiary. The time has come for all Americans to insists and demand change in the juvenile courts. We cannot and should not let this “evil” continue!

We also need to provide jobs for our youth, especially our young men, especially during the summer. Our children have too much leisure time and so “the devil finds work for idle hands”, this is an appropriate quote. Our young men need to be mentoring with other positive men to become informed and positive citizens.

What about our young girls? We need to discourage teenage pregnancy and encourage education; and so we need more programs to address this. And to remind them that this is the United States of America, where each can dream and acquire their dream. All is required is a change in our mentality and perspective. Our daughters need to believe in themselves and to love themselves, then to make their dream a reality! They need to know that they can be the next President of the United States of America. It can happen in this lifetime! Senator Hillary Clinton has proven that and so have you, Mr. President!

My heart goes out to our seniors, who through no fault of their own are suffering profusely, financially and health-wise! We need to implement some programs for them so they do not lose hope and all that they have worked for! We also need financial packages to assist traditional middle class students returning to college, since there has been an increased in those students.

This country has been a great country, but what has happed to the “watchmen”? It seemed that they all went to sleep and that is why we are in these predicaments. Your campaign has been about “change”, however there are so many issues to be dealt with: AIG, immigration, marriage, our youth, unemployment, the housing crisis, health insurance, “no child left behind”, social security, etc. As you discuss and collaborate with your advisors, I pray that you will also listen to your heart in making the moral decisions. You will not be able to please everyone, but remember that this country was founded on godly principles and our forefathers many great men and women fought courageously to make this country the United States of America!

And so Mr. President, help us to dream our dreams into reality and put America back on top for the world to see!
