The panacea: hemp

Marco Visscher | April 2004 issue

Hemp? That little plant that makes you high? Yes. Or rather, no. Yes, it is a member of the marijuana family, but hemp is also the most promising natural raw material for replacing just about everything currently made of synthetic materials. That’s good news, because hemp can grow in all kinds of climates without pesticides. Even better, hemp is used to make clothes. Because it is as soft as cotton, you can wear hemp garments for days on end in summer heat and they won’t stick to you or smell sweaty. Moreover, compared to cotton, hemp is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Hemp clothing is sold widely, including via the following websites:
Hemp Traders, www.hemptraders.com
Hemp Valley, www.hempvalley.dk
Sativa Hemp Wear, www.sativahempwear.com
