Jay Leno will have stars drive a green car

Glad to know I’m not the only one out there who calls himself an environmentalist and an afficionado of Top Gear, the British TV show about cars. Gas 2.0’s Christopher DeMorro applauds the fact that Jay Leno will be copying borrowing an idea from Top Gear’s format in which famous folks take to the track in an economy car and compete for top times.

Leno, however, will be putting a green spin on it: Instead of using a Chevy Lacetti, he’ll have “his” stars drive a battery electric Ford Focus vehicle—yup, the one that Ford says is not about to hit the market until 2011. His first guest to score a lap time: Drew Barrymore. Don’t forget to watch NBC’s “Leno” Show September 18th.
