Ode regularly invites a well-known activist, author, thinker or entrepreneur to pen some thoughts on a topic of his or her choosing, to which you can respond. The only guidelines--be inspiring and provocative.

Our current guest: Uffe Elbaek

What I'm really passionated about--I was passionate about it yesterday, I am passionate about it today, and I will (hopefully) be passionate about it tomorrow--is how to make "progressive lifestyle and politics" playful, fun, hot and sexy--and therfore, wanted. And because of that: Powerful ... in the most warm-hearted way. Playful: because it's "outside the box" and "I dare you" thinking. Fun: because I do it with other good and great people. Hot: because it's new, fresh and up in your face energy. Sexy: because it's about my (future) life, my (future) feelings, my (future) conflicts, my (future) hopes and my (future) ambitions. A new political agenda and lifestyle, where "we" and "I" dance together in the most interesting, jazzy and cool way. With a very focused awareness about our "common responsibility" here on planet Earth and at the same time enough freedom-space for just being me ... young, mature, old, or whatever age I feel I am right now. Magical-realist politics and lifestyle! That's me!"   Uffe Elbaek

"If I can't dance, I don't wanna be in your revolution." That was a bumper sticker I once saw. It's true. If we, world changers, are doomed to be pessimistic and restrained, we'll never get the right energy to accomplish anything, let alone gain some critical mass. I'd rather dance. And if there will not be a revolution in the end, then, hey, at least I was having a good time while trying ... Or wait, am I too selfish here?

Uffe, I know you've been on the Aarhus City Council, but would you consider seeking national (or even international) political office? A magical-realist politic manifesto is one I could really sign up for!
