The Recess Ends: Fifty people, one question, filming a slice of life in Austin, Texas
Fifty People, One Question is a simple project with surprising results. Go to a place, ask fifty people the same question and film their responses.
The project started in New Orleans, LA and received such a warm response that they decided to do it again in New York City. Now they're traveling to more cities (sister cities to be exact) and asking new questions. Always trying to capture a little slice of humanity. Whatever happens... happens.
My brother and I were inspired by Fifty People, One Question to ask our own question. People are always focused on possessions: I want a new car. I want that new house. I want that new hand bag. We asked the question, "What would you do, if you lost everything?"
It's a simple question and the answers can lead us anywhere. So go ahead, ask yourself...

I read the question before I watched the video and I was pleasantly surprised that people had the same question I had: "Well, what do you mean by everything?" Growing up in America, we're trained to associate "everything" in this context as all material things. You would start off the big list...what would I do without my house, my car, my material belongings. But what I gathered from the video was that these people would be okay with losing these material possessions. They know/understand what is truly important to them: friends, family, relationships, God, themselves. That makes me happy that our views are changing (maybe as a result of this economic downturn?). This I hope will force people to build stronger relationships with each other.
