The Readers Blog is a group blog, a collection of provocative, passionate people who represent a broad geographical, professional, personal and vocational range. New bloggers from other places and other points of view will join the conversation from time to time. Here, we invite them all to share their perspectives and opinions on the issues that matter to them most. And we invite you to respond. Let the dialogue begin!

The Valentine Peace Project
I learned about this from the World Peace Emerging newsletter, and it so struck me that even though I had planned another post, I pushed that one to next week in order to share this wonderful idea.
Here’s a little from their website:
An International Participation Project
We invite you to create a new expression of Valentine's Day. Through poetry and reflection The Valentine Peace Project encourages a creative dialogue on Peace leading up to the worldwide love holiday. We are a small growing initiative developing an internet and community dialogue on peace and the many faces of love.
On February 14 poems on these themes will be wrapped around thousands of different flowers in various cities to give away. This is the action we are working to build. We are also developing peace education in schools and cultivating a line of peace valentine greeting cards.
Be a part of this innovative campaign by sharing: What does Peace mean to you? Submit a poem. Forward a video. Share your unique card design.
Do something creative in your own neighborhood - touch someone's heart - make something beautiful. Give it away on February 14.
Re-discover some of the mystery and magic of Love.
The thing that strikes me most is their headline: An International Participation Project. This has to be so for peace. Has to. Peacework mandates international participation. Unless we all have peace, no one really has it.
The other thing about this idea that is so compelling is the linking of peace with love. The two are inextricable really. That toward which we send peace, we must love, if that peace wish is going to be received. That toward which we feel love, we must naturally want peace for whatever or whoever that is.
Valentine’s Day is Saturday. I send you wishes for peaceful love and loving peace.
