Peek-A-Boo Peace

Mostly my venues are grocery stores. My target audiences are pre-verbal. I have more fun than they do. I am the world’s greatest peek-a-boo player.

It started almost twenty years ago when my own bundle of preverbal love decided to leave earth for greener pastures. To heal my broken mother heart, I began to connect with children sitting in grocery carts. I’d pick up whatever box or can was nearest and peek around it. They almost always respond, we have a little fun, and I go on my merry way.

If the child is a little older, and just beginning to explore language, and if its progenitor catches me in the act, he or she usually encourages the little one to say Hi to me. I obediently say my line, “Hi, angel.” That usually brings a smile to mama or papa’s face. The child receives encouragement. “Can you say Hi to the nice lady?” The child is ready to greet a “stranger” or isn’t. I still go on my merry way.

This holiday season I received a lovely e-note from gifted spiritual writer and teacher John Harricharan. It was called “Say Hi To Peace.” It’s a one minute, forty-five second YouTube video which enchanted me.

At the end of 2007, may I invite you to YouTube to say Hi to peace? Don’t be shy. Go ahead. Peek-a-boo, Peace. Hi!
