Sprague Theobald

Sprague Theobald, an Emmy Award winning filmmaker and founder of Hole in the Wall Productions, is an optimist because he believes the power of education and imagination through film will positively benefit the people of the world.

Sprague, a respectable self-motivated individual and father of three, has been involved in television, film and literature for over 30 years. Beginning his career in front of the camera, Sprague found it far more interesting and challenging behind. Sprague has dedicated his life towards directing and producing documentary films that educate others of political, cultural and environmental issues everywhere from Zanzibar to the Arctic Circle.

Sprague jumps at the chance to document real life and cultural issues that might otherwise be over looked. Last year Sprague documented a group of women supporting themselves by pearl diving in a small Muslim village. The social and economical changes that the village underwent were astonishing. Sprague was only too grateful to tell their real life stories of hardships and perseverance to the world. Sprague believes that every culture, community and person has a story waiting to be told that will educate and open minds.

Not only is Sprague passionate about personal stories and cultural issues, but also environmental issues as well. Co-founding Windrose Learning Ventures, a non-profit organization created to educate people of history, culture and environment by way of maritime exploration, Sprague set sail this past summer to one of earth’s deadliest areas, the Arctic’s Northwest Passage. The film reveals the passage’s devastating effects of climate change on habitat, and it’s intense political turmoil.

Sprague’s films are awe-inspiring true stories of the world’s people, places and concerns created to teach others of culture, society, politics, environment, etc. Sprague is an optimist who, by film, teaches and positively inspires the world.
