Jurriaan Kamp , Ode's co-founder and editor-in-chief, sifts through the bad news that too often obscures our view of the stories from around the world that offer inspiration and hope.
Count your blessings
Some years ago I went through a very hard time. The burden of starting a business weighed increasingly heavily. I felt that the challenges of work were completely consuming me, and I didn’t have enough time to spend with my family and friends

I am an avid reader of Ode Magazine. I love the positive aspect and the fact that there are good things happening and people are out there doing it. I feel that this optimism is due in part to open mindedness and forward thinking. We are a communitiy of people that think "outside of the box". That means to me that this magazine should not presume that all it's readers believe in the same god that you do, or even have similar or any religious beliefs. I feel that because you are uncomfortable with things like The Secret, I'm not saying I fully believe mind you, that you should squelch it, and bring in your experts. It may end that line of thinking. That's a shame. I think scientific evidence evolves. To end any direction of thought so abruptly because it may not fit into someones morals is limited thinking. In The Real Secret written by your Prominent Physicist expert Peter Russell, he advises us not to remain open to the idea that we may have involvement in the our creation of our individual reality, only our interpretation of it. He says "It's unfair with respect to people who are ill or poor. The message of the The Secret suggests they too are responsible for their own fate. Does this mean that the thousands in Bangladesh made homeless by floods are suffering because thy did not have a positive vision?" What about the belief that these same people, if they do not believe in Jesus may go to hell? Any one understanding with of our limited vision doesn't seem to fit and give all the answerers. It's ok that we all research, think, seek and use all we learn wisely. There is so much we do not understand, and today's solid truths, scientifically are altered tomorrow. Do not limit based on "beliefs". I expect more from Ode Magazine.
