  Minds Matter brings low-income students and mentors together In 1991, six Wall Street professionals established Minds Matter in New York City to mentor high-achieving, low-income high school students who had the potential to pursue college educations, but lacked the necessary resources. Since then, Minds Matter has grown into a national organization, with chapters across the U.S. in Boston, Chicago, Denver and Portland. And in the upcoming school year, Minds Matter will open its doors to students in Cleveland, Ohio.
  In the land of the hearing
The deaf have mastered the art of silent communication. Only a small portion of our communication takes place in words. Words we speak only account for 35 percent of what we convey.
